In the early eighties, there was a show called the Saturday Supercade.
It was an hour long show, where they would show cartoons about
different arcade games: Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr, Q*Bert, Frogger,
Kangaroo, Space Ace and
Dragons Lair (Pac-Man and Pole Position had their own 30 minute
shows). Donkey Kong was about Mario and Pauline chasing DK all over the
world in a circus.
DK Jr was about him searching for his dad with some dude on a
motorcycle. Unfortunately, the show
only ran 2 seasons, and as far as I know no reruns have ever been shown of it.
In the show Captain N, DK appears in a few episodes. However, he is the size of a ten-story building.
The cartoon Donkey Kong Country's
first season was the Fall of 1997 (which had 26 episodes).
The show uses similar graphics to the first DK game, for there is not
hair,
only textures of it, and has live actors in suits to capture movement
which is used for the characters.
Most of the characters are from the first game, except Dixie, and
Bluster who was never in a game. The show also has 2 original songs per
episode, which really is kind of irritating.
The setting is Kongo Bongo Island and not DK Island (I believe they're
the same just different names).
